I lead the Research Informatics Support Systems (RISS) group, an informatics focused group that is part of the Minnesota Supercomputing Institute at the University of Minnesota. RISS is primarially focused on biological applications but is growing increasingly involved in other application domains. With a staff of 8 FTE PhDs, we develop new analytical techniques and workflows in collaboration with biological researchers. Additionally we apply our accumulated expertise to developing analysis tutorials (e.g. https://www.msi.umn.edu/sites/default/files/Tutorial-Hsap-v15.pdf) and providing infrastructure to enable biological researchers to play a more intimate role in their data analysis.
